08-November-2009 - SPECIAL GENERAL MEETINGNotice is hereby given of a SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING of the Reading and District Table Tennis Association to be held at the Sonning Common & Peppard Table Tennis Club on Thursday 26th November 2009, commencing at 7.30 pm.
AGENDA
1. To discuss a request from those involved in the proposed building of a Reading Table Tennis Centre for the Reading & District Table Tennis Association to provide a guarantee of up to £20,000 towards the project i.e. a guarantee of up to £20,000 from the RDTTA Development Fund.
Background – From the Chairman of the RDTTA Management Committee
This matter has been discussed at several RDTTA Management Committee meetings since a presentation at the Reading AGM in June by Peter Bradley, where he outlined the plans to develop a new table tennis centre in Reading. Your committee has voted to guarantee up to £20,000 from the RDTTA Development Fund in support of this development. While the Reading Table Tennis Centre is not an RDTTA project, and while it is appreciated that the Development Fund is a fund set aside for the RDTTA to acquire its own premises, it is believed by the majority of the RDTTA committee that this project may be the best opportunity for Reading to develop its own table tennis centre. Having taken advice, the Committee has agreed that any decision to provide this guarantee should first be put to a Special General Meeting of the Association.
Proposal – The following proposal is also put forward by John Freeman
Funds belonging to Reading and District Table Association must not be given to, transferred to, or otherwise disbursed to, the privately owned Reading Table Tennis Centre or any other organisation, in the absence of a legally binding agreement providing for commensurate valuable consideration for the Association and unless duly authorised by a General Meeting of the Association.”
Club secretaries are asked to ensure all their members receive a copy of this agenda or are made aware of this SGM, at which all members are entitled to attend and vote.
Nigel Maltby
